Can you 4WD on Bribie Island beach — permits?
Yes, on Ocean Beach and designated recreation-area tracks if you buy a vehicle access permit from Queensland Parks before you enter, drive a fully registered high-clearance 4WD with low range, and check tides plus park alerts. Two-wheel drives, trail bikes and motorbikes are not allowed. Township beaches are not a driving beach.

Best Bribie beaches for swimming?
Use Woorim’s ocean beach for a surf swim, and only between the flags when a patrol is running. For calmer, tidal water, use Pumicestone Passage foreshores around Bongaree, Bellara and Sylvan Beach. Ocean Beach inside the national park is not patrolled and has dangerous rips — do not treat it as a second Woorim.

What is there to do on Bribie Island?
Walk Pumicestone Passage foreshores, swim at Woorim when flags are up, fish both coasts under current rules, visit township culture stops, or — with a high-clearance 4WD and a QPWS vehicle access permit — drive Ocean Beach in the national park. You can have a full day without leaving sealed roads.

How to get to Bribie Island from Brisbane?
Drive north on the Bruce Highway toward Caboolture, then take Bribie Island Road across the mainland bridge into Bongaree. Without a car, take a Caboolture line train to Caboolture and a connecting Translink bus — commonly route 640 — over the same bridge. Check today’s planner for times and fares; this guide does not quote them.

Do I need a permit to visit Woorim Beach?
No vehicle access permit is required for the ordinary township streets and the public surf beach at Woorim. A QPWS permit is required if you continue into Bribie Island Recreation Area to drive Ocean Beach or park tracks. Staying on the flagged township beach is a normal public-beach visit.

Can you get to Bribie Island by public transport?
Yes. Bribie is the Moreton Bay island on the Translink network without a ferry. Ride the train to Caboolture, then a bus across the bridge to Bongaree and, on the published pattern, toward Woorim. Local loop buses also run in the townships. Always confirm the return service before you go.

Can you camp on Bribie Island?
Yes, in two different systems. Township caravan and holiday parks are commercial stays you must verify yourself. Camping inside Bribie Island National Park and Recreation Area is booked through Queensland Parks, is low-key, and has no drinking water at sites. The northern breakaway section does not allow camping.
